Sad where? These two Mississippi parents are anything but upset that their kids are growing up and getting out of the house.
Haley Marie shared a series of pictures to her Facebook of a photo shoot she did with her parents, Amy and Randy English. The theme? Empty nesters. It is seemingly modeled off of typical pregnancy announcement photos.
The photo series starts off with a chalkboard frame that reads “Empty Nesters June 1, 2019,” followed by a picture of the couple with their two dogs and a sign that says “our favorite kids.” One side-by-side photo shows the couple looking depressed holding a sign that reads “so sad” with a drawing of a broken heart. The next photo however shows them laughing hysterically holding a sign that says “hahahaha, just kidding!”
The post has been shared more than 150,000 times. Many of the comments were filled with messages of support and with people thinking the photo shoot was a great idea.
‘Warped humor is just us’
Haley Marie said all of them came up with the idea for the shoot after she wanted to take a picture of her parents outside her new apartment’s offices, but they suggested she wait until move-out time.
“We knew we wanted it to be something fun and exciting because that is just how we are,” said Haley. “Warped humor is just us!”
The 22-year-old is the last of her siblings to move out of the house. Her older brothers, Ethyn and Preston are both respectively engaged and married.
“I feel like now that it’s just them, they might move into a smaller house rather than staying in the 5-bedroom house they’re in now,” Haley said. “I’m sure they will travel and spend more quality time together.”
It sure seems like they are looking forward to it. Congratulations?
